This FOI arose from a concern about verse-final words with two Unicode METEG marks. The concern, which turns out to be unfounded, was that a word might contain a meteg in the narrow sense (געיה) after the mark that serves as silluq.

To investigate that concern, the output collects words containing at least two Unicode METEG marks and groups them by whether sof pasuq and maqaf are present. In the labels below, sopa-y and sopa-n mean that sof pasuq is present or absent, respectively, and maq-y and maq-n mean that maqaf is present or absent, respectively.

One cell of that grid is empty: no chanted word without a maqaf, that is, no single atom, ends its verse with a silluq and two further metegs. The neighbouring cells show what does occur. A single atom that ends its verse with a silluq and one meteg is common, and a verse-final maqaf compound sometimes spreads a silluq and two metegs across its atoms.

That absence is scarcity rather than a rule. Neither Yeivin's Introduction to the Tiberian Masorah nor Breuer's The Cantillation of Scripture makes the number of metegs on a word depend on whether that word has a silluq, and the few shapes that do have two metegs mid-verse, chiefly hitpael forms and theophoric names ending in יה, hardly ever end a verse at all. The rate at which a mid-verse single atom has a second meteg is low enough to predict fewer than one such verse-final atom in the whole corpus, so an empty cell is what MAM should show even with no rule behind it. The file doc/foi-mtgmtg-empty-cell.md in MAM-basics states the case in full, with the section citations and the arithmetic.
