In situations like this, it is hard to determine which letter an under-accent belongs to. By “situations like this” I mean two narrow letters (in this case vav and yod) where the first letter has an under-vowel and the second letter does not. In the face of this uncertainty, our default should be to transcribe charitably, i.e., all else equal, lean towards the consensus reading.
