MAM documentation notes on Psalms 17:14 (translated)

An English rendering of the four MAM נוסח (text-variant) documentation notes on this verse, one per word. Manuscript sigils and the technical accent/mark names are left in Hebrew and explained rather than replaced, and the implicit subject “MAM” is supplied wherever a note begins with “=”. Source: MAM-with-doc, Psalms 17:14.

Note 1 — on מִ֥מְתִֽים־יָדְךָ֨ ׀

MAM = ש1, ק13, ל-א, גסטר1 (with respect to the מרכא [merkha] as a secondary accent [טעם משני], the געיה [ga’ya] on the stressed syllable, and the מקף [maqqef]). In these manuscripts (ש1 = Sassoon 1053, ק13 = Cambridge T-S 13, ל-א = St. Petersburg EVR-II-B-55, גסטר1 = Gaster 1), and in keeping with the practice of the Keter (Aleppo Codex), there is also a חטף [ḥataf], to indicate the mobilization of the שווא [shva] after a merkha functioning as a secondary accent: ‹מִ֥מֲתִֽים־יָדְךָ֨ ׀›.

Note 2 — on מִֽמְתִ֬ים

MAM = ל, ש1, גסטר1.

Note 3 — on יִשְׂבְּע֥וּ

MAM = ש1, ק13, גסטר1 and the printed editions (דפוסים).

Note 4 — on לְעוֹלְלֵיהֶֽם

MAM = ש1(?), ק-מ (Cambridge Add. 1753) — the placement of the סילוק [silluq].
